A NEW KITCHEN FOR AN OLD HOUSE
Steve and Ann wanted to bring new life into the kitchen of their 200‑year‑old cape. They hoped for a brighter, more functional space that respected the character of the home while giving them the comfort and efficiency of a modern kitchen.
Like many historic homes, this one came with surprises. The original framing, outdated insulation, and aging finishes required careful planning. The layout was tight, and the kitchen lacked natural light and modern storage.
We opened up the space, rebuilt the walls and ceilings, upgraded insulation and air sealing, and installed new windows to bring in more light. Custom cabinetry, new lighting, and updated finishes transformed the kitchen while preserving the home’s historic charm.
